Dates....
1st box on this site open before 1 November 1875.
This replacement box 23 June 1895.
There was originally another connection from colliery to Up Main nearer signal 6 (16 disc out over 17 points).
Later signal 7 was provided to set back Down Line through 9 and disc 14 added set back up line at 13 (probably associated with provision of barriers).
Gates to barriers exact date not known but sometime between 1981 to 1983 with 3 as barrier lever, may have been done the same time as Linby Colliery Sidings 19 July 1981?
30 December 1973 - Annesley box closed and lines to north became Up & Down Through Sidings.
8 August 1983 - Lines to Annesley closed, stop block at 18.
19 March 1988 - Line & box mothballed.
This box had clearly been extended by 5ft at the end furthest from Crossing, at some point.
On inspection of new MS&L construction siding into the Down line near the north end of the Up platform, the inspector stated that with all 12 levers in use it needed a larger frame. This is probably the reason for the provision of a new box 23 June 1895. This info gives no clue as to why the box was subsequently extended, though. Shuffling the frame along and adding a gate wheel could be the most feasible reason.
The line was brought back into passenger use when the Robin Hood line Stage 1 opened from Nottingham to Newstead in May 1993.
The top section of the signal box survives, at the Midland Railway Centre Butterley, as a demonstration box. See the below link
