Page 11 - BR Immingham Depot workings 1963

At this point it might be useful to consult an extract from the BR ER Immingham Depot "Freight engine and Trainmen's workings" commencing 9 September 1963, until further notice.

We see this is diagram 112, for a 7MT engine (Britannia class). The light engine (0V11) departs Immingham loco shed at 3.0pm arriving Grimsby Fish Docks at 3.32pm. The Immingham enginemen depart with 3V11 at 4.30pm, due to arrive Pyewipe West at 5.51pm where the Colwick crew will be waiting to take the train forward to Leicester Central. It's just over 2 hours to Leicester where Woodford men take over for the final leg of 'Britannia' haulage to Banbury General, arriving at 9.46pm.

To make sure the engine gets back to Immingham diagram 112 includes the return journey with the fish empties, 4E00. Leaving Woodford at 1.20am (Mondays excepted because, of course, 3V11 didn't run on Sundays) the Woodford crew are relieved at Annesley South Junction by a Lincoln crew at 3.19am. A fresh Lincoln crew then take over at Lincoln East Holmes before arriving back at Grimsby Docks at 7.30am and taking the 'Britannia' light engine back to Immingham shed.
