Annesley North Junction_1963_BlockShelf
This sketch shows the block shelf layout for Annesley North Junction in 1963. It is self explanatory but of interest is the track diagram. It is mounted on the block shelf, rather than being hung from the rafters in LNER style, and was made of material where alterations (removed track) could just be scratched off. It is an LMR diagram which was almost certainly first installed when No.1 box closed. This supports the theory that Annesley No.1 points were taken over by North Junction sometime after the LMR took over control of ex GC/GN linest west of Daybrook in February 1958 and before the publication of the LMR Midland Lines Sectional Appendix in October 1960 ( which was a couple of months after final preparation).
Hence the suggestion that No.1 box closure was the first "rationalisation" operation carried out by the LMR.
The diagram has been reproduced with the kind permission of Owen Llewellyn who retains the Copyright.
