Killer Whale Club - 1921.1580_web

This club was carved from wood during 19th century by the Tlingit tribe from the Northwest coast. It was potentially used to bludgeon marine mammals such as seals and otters. The carvings represent the marine animal that would have hunted those animals in the wild. It has a length of 10.5cm and it is 4cm wide. It was a gift from W. A. Price in 1921; the accession number is 1921.1580. It is on display at The Cleveland Museum of Art in Gallery 231 Native North American. This image is in the public domain.
