False Face for Funerary Bundle

This piece is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. According to the museum, it is presumed to be from around the 3rd century in Peru. The piece is made of cotton and paint. This initially caught my eye because of the gorgeous and simple line work. While scrolling, it instantly reminded me of an ancient Keith Haring piece, as someone who loves the simple and energetic nature of his line drawings! Upon further inspection, I love how expressive and abstract the figure is. According to the museum, this woven piece likely adorned a mummy bundle.
