Pendent, beautifully made from gold, in the 1900s. This pendent is from Africa, West Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, probably Baule goldsmith. This pendent is 3.6 x 7.7 cm in size. According to the museum, gold objects are the only Baule art form that’s associated with ancestor spirits, a beautiful pendent such as this, would be displayed during important occasions such as funerals. This now piece of art, could also be worn by a widow either in her hair or on a chain around her neck at the ceremony as a sign of the end of mourning. This pendent was a purchase from the J. H.
