Ornamental Square from a Tunic
“Ornamental Square from a Tunic” is an Egyptian piece made during the Byzantine period or the 400s. This is a tapestry weave and it shows two hunters riding on horses as they hold rocks in their hands. The human figures appear very similar but the one on the right is wearing a skirt. Right below them, there are two lions which they seem to be chasing. Every figure in this piece appears to be in motion. The surrounding border includes animals facing in different directions as they are running. The dimensions for this is 21cm x 20cm and it is a Gift of the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust 1916.1980. This image is in the public domain.
