Luster Dish with Polo Player

“Luster Dish with Polo Player” is an Iranian piece which was made in 1170-1200. This is a very beautiful fritware which shows a polo player on the back of a horse. The figure is wearing clothing which has a dotted design and flows around at the bottom. The figure is holding a polo stick in his right hand, which is raised beside his head. The horse is shown to be running as its legs are in motion. According to the museum website, the represented figure with a “moon-like face and fine features” could be considered Iranian’s ideal of beauty”. The measurements for this is 7.2cm x 35.5cm.
