Brooch in the Form of a Six-Pointed Star 2009.344_web

This piece is from 700/800s France. It is made out of copper and gold with filigree and repoussé decorations. It is 7.7 cm wide. It was bought by the Cleveland Museum of Art with the Severance and Greta Millikin Purchase Fund in 2009. The accession number is 2009.344, and it is currently on display in Gallery 106A.

In the center you can see faint traces of a figure, likely a dragon. The shape of this brooch suggests that it could've doubled as a talisman or amulet.
