Head of Alexander the Great 1927.209_web

The Head of Alexander the Great is from the 3rd century BC and is from Greece, Alexandria, during the Hellenistic era. Slightly smaller than life size this sculpture is made of marble with the dimensions of 26.5 x 14.5 x 13.8 cm (10 7/16 x 5 11/16 x 5 7/16 in.) After his death, Alexander was worshipped like a God and wanted to portray him properly. It is currently on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art at 102C Greek. You can visit this sculpture thanks to Mrs. Ralph King gifting it to the museum in 1927. This image is in the public domain.
