The Ivory Plaque with Enthroned Mother of God ("The Stroganoff Ivory") was created in 950-1025 during the Byzantium, Constantinople, Byzantine period. Made from Ivory with dimensions of 25.3 x 17.2 x 1.8 cm (9 15/16 x 6 3/4 x 11/16 in.) the plaque depicts Christ as an emotionless, supernatural child to emphasize the mystery of his incarnation. As a gift from J. H. Wade 1925.1293 the Ivory Plaque is on display at The Cleveland Museum of Art, 105 Byzantine. This image is in the public domain.
