Cappella di San Silvestro, Vallunga,
Small and graceful, the chapel dedicated to the patron saint of cattle is a place of silence and contemplation. During restoration work in 1993, more than 300 years of frescoes of the life story of Jesus were discovered.
Vallunga is part of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in the heart of the Puez Odle Nature Park, which now covers an area of around 10,722 ha. The nature park is bordered to the north by the Passo delle Erbe, and to the south by the Gardena Pass; in the east, the area extends to the Val Badia (Kampill, Antermoia), in the west to the Funes Valley and to the Val Gardena.
The first section runs through the beautiful Vallunga on a pleasant walking and hiking trail with a view of the Stevia massif and the walls of the Puez Group on the left, and the Chedul Mountains and the Col Turond on the right side of the valley. We climb via the Puez hut to the Ciampei saddle.
