Shakyamuni as an Ascetic - 1966.116_full

The 'Shakyamuni as an Ascetic' piece originates from the Yuan dynasty around 1300 ACE. It is created using Gilt Bronze

and Polychromy as mediums. The figure appears to be sitting on the ground with a knee suppoting his hands. The entire

piece is gold in color with the exception being the man's hair and the details on his clothes. The definition of

'Ascetic' is one who abstains from indulgences so we could draw the conclusion that this figure portrays a religious

person who has separated themselves from this world's desires.
