Ornament with Carp and Lotus Design1917.1040_web
Ornament with Carp and Lotus Design was created in Korea in the 1100’s. The artwork was made out of Gilt bronze and its dimensions are 3.2 x 2 cm (1 1/4 x 13/16 in.). This piece of art was very interesting to me at first glance, the detail that went into creating the lotus and the carp and how it all fit together. According to the museum these symbols were used not only as daily accessories, but also as burial goods for commemorating the dead. Ornament with Carp and Lotus Design was a gift to the Cleveland Museum of Art by John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust and is for viewing in The Other Side of the Story - Korean Gallery 236 Rotation. This image is a public domain. www.clevelandart.org/art/1917.1040 clevelandart.org/art/1917.1040
