Mother Goddess, was created in Northwestern India during the 5-6th century. According the museum it is one of 8 pieces that were in the entrance of the Hindu temple and is roughly 79.4 x 23.2 cm (31 1/4 x 9 1/8 in.). The materials used in the art was schist. The art shows a woman holding a child’s hand, almost like guiding them. The Mother Goddess was purchased from the J. H. Wade Fund 1970. This artwork can be found in Streams and Mountains Without End: Asian Art and the Legacy of Sherman E. Lee at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
