Arhat 1979.71_web

Depicted on the hanging scroll is a figure enclosed by a halo seated on a bamboo stool coaxing a dragon to enter their bowl. The man present can be identified as Segongyang Jonja an Arhat (a Buddhist disciple that has achieved enlightenment on earth). The hanging scroll itself is made with ink and silk color and has dimensions of 55 1/8 x 21 5/16 in. "Arhat" was created in 1235 Korea during the

Goryeo period by artist 세공양존자 (世供養尊者), and would later be bought by the Cleveland Museum of Art by the J. H. Wade Fund 1979 and is currently not on display.
