"Seal with Unicorn and Inscription" is a depiction of a unicorn appearing before an altarpiece with an Indus Valley manuscript appearing above the carved image. The Image itself is carved from steatite (a soft metamorphic rock) and hails from c. 2000 BC. Pakistan, Indus Valley civilization. The carving is 3.5 x 3.6 cm (1 3/8 x 1 7/16 in.) and was purchased by purchased from the J. H. Wade Fund in 1973 (1973.161). The Seal with Unicorn and Inscription can be viewed on the Cleveland Museum of Art's website or in their ancient Indian exhibit (242A Ancient India)
