Manjushri - 1989.67_print

Manjushri is a stunning mounted tangka painted with watercolor and gold on cotton. It was created during the Ming dynasty in China between 1500 and 1550, and according to the museum, depicts the Buddhist deity Manjushri, the bodhisattva of wisdom, surrounded by various animals and figures. The tangka has a height of 124 cm (48 13/16 in.) and a width of 107.3 cm (42 1/4 in.) and was gifted to the Cleveland Museum of Art by the Mr. and Mrs. William H. Marlatt Fund. Its accession number is 1989.67 and is currently not on view. This image is in the public domain.
