A horn termed the "Horn of Blaise" from 12th century South Italy, is made up of ivory. It is quite small for a horn at 12 centimeters (4 3/4 inches). Many details in regards to this piece have been included by the Cleveland Museum: the Horn of Blaise came from the Treasury in the Cathedral of St. Blaise, Brunswick; House of Brunswick-Lüneburg (Goldschmidt Galleries, New York), it was a gift of the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust (accession 1930.740), is available in the public domain, can be seen at 106C Medieval Treasury, and Saint Blaise became known in the 17th century to call the faithful to worship with the horn represented here.
