Lion's Head - 1927.27_web
A ferocious "Lion's Head" from 5th century Greece (400s BC). Formed out of terracotta, it sits at 24.3 centimeters (9 9/16 inches). It was gifted by the A. W. Ellenberger, Sr., Endowment Fund 1927.27. The Cleveland Museum says the sculpt is open access and is being shown at 102C Greek. Unfortunately, one of the front teeth are missing. However, the design is awe-inspiring. It lives up to the high place lions take in the animal kingdom and contains an Ancient Greek royalty energy.
