Vishnu Riding on Garuda-1961.46_print

This work is named “Vishnu Riding on Garuda”, it is a sculpture in AD 300s within Eastern India, Bihar. The sculptures’ dimensions are 81.3x47 cm (32x18 1/2in.). The sculpture is made out of Schist which is a stone. The art was purchased from the J.H. Wade Fund 1961.46 and you can see it in Cleveland Museum of Art in 243 Indian and Southeast Asian. I chose this work of art because it appealed to me and I like the details in it such as the two small figures found at the bottom. According to the museum, Garuda is classified as the enemy of Serpents and a subjugated serpent is attached around his neck.
