Spear Thrower-1940.507

The Spear Thrower was made from (200 BC-AD 200). According to the museum the Spear Thrower is made of bone, hematite, cotton thread, and sinew. The Spear Thrower was used to propel a spear with more velocity and improve distance through the air. The Spear thrower's appearance connects with death, you can see this as the rear has a severed human head. According to the Museum, the Spear Thrower's overall size is 5.8 x 2 cm (2 5/16 x 13/16 in.) This piece is apart of the Norweb Collection under the accession number 1940.507. The Spear Thrower is on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art and it's located at 232 Andean.
