“Marble female figure” on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Gallery 151, is a stunningly abstract stone sculpture dating to the Early Cycladic II period, 2600-2400 B.C. The stylized figure is standing on her toes with tiny arms tightly crossed around her chest. Her disproportionally large triangular head has no other features but her long also triangular shaped nose. The 24 3/4 in. (62.79 cm) tall female figure was a gift of Christos G. Bastis in 1968. The accession number assigned to this artwork is 68.148. The image is in the Public Domain and can be viewed on the museum’s website.
