Fragment with Satyr and Maenad currently resides at the Cleveland Museum of Art and was created in Egypt during the Byzantine period in the 4th century. The satyr is the figure depicted on the left while the maenad is the figure depicted on the right. According to the Cleveland Museum of Art, satyrs and maenads were followers of Dionysus the Greek god of wine and was possibly commissioned for cultic or theatrical festivities. The image depicts the maenad in the nude, and unfortunately some sections are no longer visible on the piece. This tapestry was purchased from the J.H. Wade Fund; the accession number is 1975.6.
