Red-Figure Janiform Kantharos (Two-sided Head-Shaped Drinking Cup): Satyr and African is a unique ceramic piece created between 470-460 B.C.E in the region of Attica in Greece. The image above shows the Satyr side of the vessel. The opposite side of the vessel portrays an African man, this man too has a beard and has an open mouth but instead of the reddish color for the skin tone the artist used the color black to depict the skin color. The height of the vessel is 71116 inches and 6¾ inches wide. This interesting vessel is currently on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art at 102B Greek. The Cleveland Museum of Art acquired this piece from the John L. Severance Fund; the accession number is 1979.69 This image is in the public domain.
