This was designed by Thomas Telford and William Jessop, and built by them in 1795 - 1808, and with John Simpson as the Contractor for the stonework and William Hazeldine supplying the cast iron components.
This collaboration resulted in one of the most significant feats of civil engineering during the Industrial revolution.
