Gold Weight Fish 1961.399_web

The Gold Weight Fish was made in Ghana Africa by an Asante artist in the 1800s. Personally I think the fish looks more like a whale than a fish. The gold weight fish is made of a copper alloy and is 1 ⅛ x 2 x ⅝ x 3/16in. It is located at the Cleveland Museum of Art but unfortunately it is currently not on display. It was a gift from William Ellery Greene and its accession number is 1961.399. This image is in the public domain www.clevelandart.org/art/1961.399
