Glass Apple, #2

Photographing round objects with artificial (studio) lighting is very difficult, because of the reflections coming off from all over the place.

 

When the round object is made of glass, difficulties are compounded.

 

I took a couple of quasi–macro shots of this small glass apple (about 3 cm in diameter) as I was studying studio lighting for the purpose of tabletop and small objects photography. It was a good exercise!

 

Unfortunately, I do not remember the technical details of the lighting, so I cannot describe them and post to groups that require that sort of information. My two Phottix Pro Indra500 monolights were certainly involved, plus maybe one or two cobra flashes, as well as modifiers (diffusers) and scrims... The thing is, the lighting was not so badly designed (even if I say so myself!) that I cannot tell how the lights were arranged just by looking at the picture...!

 

This is the second photo, posted as announced before. The lighting is obviously very different from the one in the other photo below. There is some backlighting.
