Terracotta Statue of a Young Woman DP119671

"Terracotta Statue of a Young Woman," is on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Gallery 170. This beautifully crafted statue is from the Late 4th to early 3rd Century B.C. According to the museum's website this statue, when completed, the statue probably stood in a sanctuary and showed the young woman holding an incense box in her extended right hand. This rare statue is an elegant example of Italic art in these centuries. The dimensions of this statue are 29 7/16 inches (74.8cm.) The statue was a purchase from the Rogers Fund in 1916.
