Friends Having Lunch

We met our daughter and her boyfriend in Kansas City for lunch recently, and while we waited for our food, these two ladies were seated at a table across from us. It struck me as such an evocative scene with the friends engaged in conversation as the soft winter light was coming in from the window.

I really wanted to capture the moment, and as is typically the case, I had a film camera with me, this time an Argus C3 made in 1957, and which my daughter's boyfriend gave me for Christmas. I guessed the distance at 15ft, set the camera aperture to the triangle between f5.6 and f8, and set the shutter to 1/10 sec...I set the camera on the table and hoped for the best.

I exposed two frames and this one turned out the best. It never ceases to amaze me how good the images taken with the venerable "brick" turn out. This is the 4th one in my collection...I just can't seem to pass them by when I find them at estate sales. Taken using Foma 400, developed with Xtol at 1:1 dilution.
