Mt Dhaulagiri
Mount Dhaulagiri is the seventh highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,167 meters (26,795 feet) above sea level. It is located in the Dhaulagiri mountain range of north-central Nepal, just northwest of the Annapurna range. The name "Dhaulagiri" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "White Mountain" (Dhavala = white, Giri = mountain). Known for its massive size and steep slopes, Dhaulagiri is one of the most challenging mountains to climb. It was first successfully ascended on May 13, 1960, by a Swiss-Austrian-Nepali expedition. The mountain is also famous for its dramatic rise above the Kali Gandaki Gorge, one of the world’s deepest.
