Striking Gold

Bathed in a setting sun’s final rays of sunlight, Florida East Coast Railway train 208-06 takes in the curves through ‘PEV Storage’, wrapping around Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s [FLL/KFLL] east side on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6th, 2024. A now-rare pair of matching Champion-paint ES44C4/LNG/ES44C4 power sets, led by #FEC821, take charge of the afternoon junker from Hialeah Yard to Jacksonville’s Bowden Yard. The days’ train is comprised of loaded limerock, domestic FEC intermodal, and a handful of carload manifest on the bottom, with no setout at Fort Pierce needed [Waste Management IM handled by 191/290 on Saturdays]. Since FEC 206 is abolished on Saturday’s, 208-06 had its own power [821/306/802], plus what would’ve been 206’s [811/304/807], moved north to Jacksonville to keep the power cycle moving for the next day.
