Réalisé par volonté de la Reine Marguerite de Savoie, qui séjournait à Gressoney déjà depuis 1889, hôte de la famille des barons Beck Peccoz, le château s’élève au pied du Col de la Ranzola dans le lieu-dit “Belvedere”, en raison de la superbe vue qui depuis là domine toute la vallée jusqu’au glacier du Lyskamm. La pose de la première pierre de l’édifice eut lieu le 24 août 1899 à la présence du Roi Umbert Ier qui, assassiné à Monza un an plus tard, n’eut pas la possibilité de voir la conclusion des travaux, terminés en 1904. Le manoir accueillit la Reine pendant ses séjours estivaux jusqu’en 1925, un an avant sa mort à Bordighera, le 4 janvier 1926. Après avoir été acheté par l’industriel milanais Moretti en 1936, le château devint propriété de la Région Autonome Vallée d’Aoste en 1981.
Realized by will of Queen Margaret of Savoy, who had been staying in Gressoney since 1889, guest of the family of the barons Beck Peccoz, the castle rises at the foot of the Col de la Ranzola in the place called “Belvedere”, due to of the superb view which from there dominates the whole valley up to the Lyskamm glacier. The laying of the first stone of the building took place on August 24, 1899 in the presence of King Umbert I who, assassinated in Monza a year later, did not have the opportunity to see the conclusion of the work, which was completed in 1904. The mansion hosted the Queen during her summer stays until 1925, a year before her death in Bordighera, on January 4, 1926. After being purchased by the Milanese industrialist Moretti in 1936, the castle became the property of the Autonomous Region Valle d 'Aosta in 1981.
