Methods of Correction in Surat Al-Israa (The Night Journey)
Islamic paper had to be coated with a mixture of wheat starch, rice powder, egg whites, and alum, so the ink does not scrap the paper which allows the copyist to correct any errors. The rough scraping under the phrase ( فَلَا تَقُلْ لَهُمَا) suggests an erasure and the correct insertion of the phrase occurring on top of it. The correction can be done by using cotton and water that helps to scrape away the words or letters.
