Story Time 2: Galway View, 2324 CE - (short story in description)

The view from her loft was especially beautiful that evening. The transparent aluminium walls had their vibrance settings set to near maximum, boosting the fading autumn sunset. The old-fashioned bioluminescent lighting mid-town cast a lovely green glow, but Caoimhe wondered how long they would be around.

The famous ‘Galway Green’ self-charging lamps, developed by Galway University wunderkind Dr. Jared Q. Gerlach more than a hundred seventy years earlier, had recently been removed from the floating spaceport in Galway Bay… She’d Nurallinked somewhere that he’d been trying to adapt saguaro cactus to Ireland’s climate, and found a new nano-bot that would make them perpetually give off light.

Cheap clean energy though was a thing of the past, at least here, as Ireland was now insanely rich. Since the last remaining oil reserve in the world had been discovered beneath a Traveller halting site, outside of Tuam, in County Mayo, the country was rolling in cash, unseen since the days of the Saudi Sheiks.

(This actually the Galway Racecourse 'Champagne Bar', taken through one window and out the other, in broad daylight, then messed with in Lightroom. No AI's were harmed in the making of this image.)
