Filling the tank of an ancient 'Lister' stationary engine, on display at the Westport street fair.... One can make the analogy that old engines like this are like the old men who maintain them... they're no longer at the forefront of technology; they're somewhat finicky, weigh too much, leak unexpectedly, and create noxious fumes. Still, they refuse to quit running if given a bit of attention and/or a swift kick. Replacement parts are hard to come by at best, and thoughts of a catastrophic failure loom every time one pushes the machine too hard. Still, it's best to be of some use, rather than rusting away and collecting dust...
