Soul Survivor
At a vintage tractor and car show in rural Mayo I was surprised to find this 1962 Chevy long-bed half-ton pickup. I'd travelled thousands of miles in trucks like this, Chris-crossing America's heartland and across its deserts; seeing this one was like suddenly meeting a long-lost lover. Time has taken a toll, yet the Chevy still wore original paint and the drive train with which it rolled out of the factory six decades ago. I hope nobody saw me spread my arms across the hood, and give the truck an emotional hug. An affection, no matter how distant, never dies.
