CAIMF1095-YE.2671-1957, 'No.26', on R.C.T.S., ‘Stocksbridge Railway Rail Tour’, at British Steel Corporation, Stocksbridge Steel Works-17-05-1975 (Negative No.29-435a23)-A

On 17/05/1975, the Railway Correspondence and Travel Society organised a trip to the Stocksbridge Railway, and to the British Steel Corporation, Steel Works, at Stocksbridge, which that railway served. The R.C.T.S. visit included a trip along the Stocksbridge Railway, to the exchange sidings, at Deepcar Station.

 

Janus Class, 0-6-0, 400 H.P., Diesel Electric locomotive, 'No.26', built by the Yorkshire Engine Company Ltd, Meadowhall Works, Sheffield, in 1957, is seen here, departing the steel works, as it commences its journey to the exchange sidings, at Deepcar Station. The passengers that can be seen on this journey being the members of the R.C.T.S. who participated in the trip to British Steel Corporation, Stocksbridge Steel Works, on 17/05/1975.

 

Locomotive 'No.26', was built by the Yorkshire Engine Company Ltd, Meadowhall Works, Sheffield, to Works No.2671, in 1957, and was delivered, new, to Samuel Fox and Company Ltd, Stocksbridge, in November 1957.
