899 - THL899

Dulux paint was launched in 1932 as the result of a joint project with the DuPont Company of America and Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) of the UK. ICI was involved in all sorts of industries which were progressively sold off from the mid 1970s. This included Imperial Metal Industries who made Yorkshire fittings at the Copper Works in Stourton, which was floated off in 1977.

In 1992, ICI de-merged its pharmaceutical and bio-sciences operations to a new company called Zeneca which, in 1999, merged with the Swedish company Astra AB to form AstraZeneca. You may have heard of them recently…..

The Dulux advertisement is being carried by today’s Guy Wulfrunian 899 (THL899). The Wulf is on the usual stand in Wakefield bus station where it can be seen loading up for a trip to Ossett on the number 20.
