It was a rich Scots-American philanthropist Robert Dollar who gifted Dollar Park to the town of Falkirk in 1922.
Robert Stanley Dollar (1844-1932) was born in the village of Bainsford near Falkirk but with his family emigrated to Canada in 1857. Robert Dollar later moved to the United States with his wife and family in 1885 and in 1888 he became a naturalized American citizen.
In his lifetime Robert Dollar had been a lumber baron, shipping magnate and philanthropist.
He died on 16th May 1932 in San Rafael, California.
