The Survivors RPG Tournament 3- Mission on Mimban

Ordin Voss

Location: Mimban, near Imperial Base

Here we go. After my colleagues back on Coruscant wiped out many of the Imperial forces there, we received word that the remaining Imperials had fled to a powerful stronghold on Mimban. Survivors from across multiple systems have banded together so that we can pummel The Empire in a battle they will never forget.

The shuttle rattles as we descend onto a crude landing pad, slick with mud. Kreet, the near-human I worked with on Felucia, is commanding our unit, the ground forces. The area around the landing pad has been taken from the Imperials, but that doesn’t mean we’re in the clear. There are still many Imperials taking landing crafts to the base, and we may come across Imperial forces as we forge our way there.

The shuttle ramp goes down, and we are given a holographic briefing by Zach himself, before being handed standard heavy blasters. I prefer to use my laser shotgun, but I take the blaster just in case. After the briefing, which gives us some info on what to do in case of an Imperial encounter on the way to the base, we begin our travel through the rough terrain. I begin to loathe the planet, as the humidity is unbearable and the mud can get close to a foot deep. Fog impairs most of my vision, so I’m glad that I brought electrobinoculars.

Thankfully the air has gotten clearer, and the ground is more dry, though it’s still caked with mud. My unit has been walking for hours through this rough terrain, but Commander Kreet says that we’ve neared the location of the base. Out of nowhere we hear powerful blaster fire, and I look up to see a group of TIE fighters chasing an X-wing into the poisonous fog above us. An explosion promptly follows. Kreet says that it’s part of Ryder Squadron, and they’ll be taking care of the skies. Suddenly one of the soldiers signals us over, and she says that there’s an Imperial camp a few meters down from us. They’re mostly unarmed and appear to be on a rest break- a perfect opportunity for attack.

The Imperials are ambushed before they know what’s happening, with our unit descending upon them with our blasters. One of our soldiers has some sort of light sword, and he slices through the Imperials with devastating power. I’m able to take out a few of them myself with my shotgun. However, there are a lot more Imperials than I expected, and some of them have picked up some blasters. It quickly becomes a treacherous battle, with laser shots flying in every direction. The saber-wielding Survivor is shot, along with many of the soldiers next to me. I take out a few more Imperial troopers, and it seems like we may win this fight.

When it seems like we are nearing victory, the worst happens; a mechanical whirring echoes from behind the Imperials, and I watch in horror as a large AT-DT walker rises from its place in the mud. It fires its cannon, and an explosion follows, only mere feet from where I stand. I hit the ground hard and my ears are ringing. Someone shakes me and pulls me up, and it’s the female soldier who spotted the Imperial camp. She says that she can snipe the walker pilot if I can distract it, and I agree. I run below the AT-DT before it can fire again, and I stay in its blind spot as it tries to hit me. The soldier gets a clear shot, and the walker freezes, before swaying and falling over.

16:26

We’ve managed to defeat a few of the Imperials but at the cost of many good Survivors. This is still a small victory, as the base is said to have enough firepower to wipe us all out- but I believe that through our determination to stop the Empire, we will prevail.

\\\LOG END///

I think I learned a lot from this build. There are still many places where I can improve, especially with adding more detail to the terrain. I originally had more minifigures on the build but it seemed too crowded. Unfortunately, when I took them off the build didn't really seem that detailed. I'm still pretty proud of myself, since I don't really do terrain that often. The walker and the figs are probably the best parts. Tell me what you think! Also, shout-out to Carculio and Director KW, we're all in this together!

Post-script- I had forgotten to mention, but this is probably the cleanest background I've ever had.

Post-post-script- I forgot to add an ostrich lol. If it's really necessary then I can redo this, but it might take some time.
