Burnley Panopticon
The Singing Ringing Tree.
The panopticons was a creative project to erect a series of 21st century landmarks across East Lancashire as symbols of the renaissance of the area. This “Singing Ringing Tree” is a unique musical sculpture constructed from galvanised steel pipes which harness the energy of the prevailing winds to produce low tuneful “songs”.
Pentax MX, Pentax-M 28mm f3.5 shot at f5.6/f8 at 1/30 second.
EV range was from 15.5 for bright sky areas down to EV 10.5 for shadows. Placed the singing tree on Zone 3. Shot on Fomapan 100 at box speed and used a Tiffen Red 25 filter in an attempt to enhance the sky. Used 2 stops compensation for the filter.
Developed in Rodinal at 1:50 at 18C for 13.5 minutes and scanned using Valoi Easy35.
I took this colour photo ( flic.kr/p/2p8hGtq )a couple of years back with my Nikon D800 and fisheye lens.
