This weather-beaten neon sign, stands out nicely against the clear, blue sky of Tucumcari . . The Ranch House opened in 1952. It was the first restaurant in the area to offer drive up style curb service. While the eatery did prosper for a number of years, Interstate 40 eventually bypassed most of Route 66 and Tucumcari. This eventually would lead to the demise of the Ranch House as I-40 led those hungry travelers away from The Mother Road : (
