Paramites are pack animals that don't like to be cornered, and Scrab's will chase you if they see you, best to lead them to another Scrab which they will fight and kill and leave Abe alone whilst doing so.
In the original 1998 sequel to Abe's Oddysee, Abe's Exoddus, both the Paramites and Scrabs are able to be possessed by Abe in order to assist him with certain puzzles and other enemies.
