This bell was forged in the last half of the 19th century. Made of Brass its dementions are Height: 12 in. (30.5 cm) Diameter: 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm).

Classified as a musical intrumement. The story behind this bell is told that the figure on it is the bell is Hanuman, the famous monkey general who, in Hindu mythology, led the army that helped Rama rescue his wife. Priests also use Ghanti bells of different sizes to pay hominage to god.

 

Most indian buddas have a tall standing head piece. Most of these art works have some resemblance to this. No matter what budda you look at. They all have a head piece.
