Shauna Seated

101 Oil Studies, No. 30

Objective: Portrait in Life Drawing sessions

Painted in 3 sessions: 6 to 14 July 2024

Pigments (all Winsor & Newton Artists' oil colour): permalba white (Weber), ivory black, warm gray (Rembrandt artists), raw umber, yellow ochre, transparent earth red (Gambin artists). Mediums: Gamsol, linseed oil.

Centurion OP DLX oil primed linen, 30.5 x 40.6 cm (12 x 16 inches)

Process: The first session applied a wash of a raw umber and ivory black mix thinned with Gamsol, then wiped with a paper towel. When dry, I lightly transferred landmarks from "Shauna" (Life Drawing album). The two subsequent session involved the same live model and pose at the New Mexico Art League studio on July 7 and 14.

After action evaluation: Loose but more thoughtful strokes for the background on the left side.
