Abó Construction

Timber from the nearby Manzano Mountains join shale, sandstone, and mud in the contruction of Mission San Griorio de Abó. Vigas, additional timbers that served as rafters, fit into the slots above the timbers laid into the wall. All were put in place by pueblo laborers under the direction of Franciscans.

Abó No. 7 in my Salinas Pueblo Missions album.
