Although the picture doesn't follow certain design rules (tree being halfway in the photo), I intentionally did it this way to make the picture seem as though it had an infinite amount of trees (in reality, only this portion has lots of trees). I used a black and white scheme to create a darker effect and to show just how large the trees are in the photo. I had somebody pose in the photo because I wanted to add a dark, random figure behind them. The ruined house, dark figure, and the large trees should make the viewer feel small. Proportion was the largely important design principle in this photo. I wanted to make the composition a little messier, to give the photo the feeling as though the photographer noticed the dark figure, but decided to stick with this “tourist” blank shot because it looked and felt much better.
