The concept of this photo was to depict the massive workload students can have and the pure exhaustion that students can feel during these last few months of school left. In order to create this image, I had to lay out studying materials scattered all throughout the floor and make the subject lay on top of the books in order to show that the student was exhausted and tired. To add to the online school aspect, I had the student study within their room and include the time of the photo to be around the time where it was getting to the later afternoon while I also had the student be within the center of the rule of thirds in order to capture the viewer's attention. I chose this picture for my portfolio since I enjoyed the atmosphere of having the student pass out and this tone of the laziness and rest be a part of the photo along with the darker sense of lighting with bits and pieces of the light strips of the light coming from the back window. One of the compositional techniques I used was the rule of thirds to have the model sit at the middle thirds and more towards the top thirds in order to have the viewer's attention focus on the books and papers sprawled on the ground. To achieve this photo I had to move the books and paper scattered on the ground to have this messy effect while also having the model laying on top of these papers and mess to create a sense of tiredness and laziness atmosphere on the pile. When taking the pictures at an aperture of 1.8, ISO of 160, and a shutter speed of 1/4000 creates this element of bringing the focus on the subject and having the whites of the paper stick out more in contrast to the darker clothes that the model was wearing. By also having to edit the highlights to be decreased to bring a darker element to the pages while increasing the shadows and the whites allow a lighter tone to be cast in the background on the walls as well as the increasing the shadows increased the brightness of the model themselves.
