Dr. Jannette Carey

Today, our CT State Manchester Science Department was thrilled to welcome Dr. Jannette Carey, a distinguished faculty member of Princeton's Chemistry Department. Dr. Carey, Princeton's first female faculty member appointed in 1989 and a double major graduate in Chemistry & Biology from CCSU, directs a National Science Foundation funded training program in biophysics research for undergraduates. This program brings students from schools with limited research opportunities to Princeton for summer research with its world-renowned faculty.
This summer, STEM students have the chance to spend 10 weeks in Hamburg, Germany, while non-STEM students can spend 9 weeks at Princeton University. Both programs offer fully paid stipends, travel, and housing.
Dr. Carey, along with CT State Manchester Prof. Negussie Tirfessa, who has collaborated with her since 2016, discussed this year’s opportunities for our students. Manchester students have successfully participated in this program in previous years (2017, 2018 & 2019).
